**I'm surprised people aren't complaining that he's "mooching" off the
land or society or the rock people or any sad excuse for taking jabs at a
man who threatens their way of life. Personally, I think it's pretty
nifty, rock people are cool... albeit, I think his home could use a
little color... maybe paint a wall yellow or sumffin??? Liven the place
up a little. I like color more then I like rock people. And I think I
like rock people more then I like other types of people... (albeit I
don't actually know rock people, I just imagine they're cooler then the
regular ones who live right next to me).

** freedom to do such here in the u.s. is not going to let people alone to live like that.social services would take your kids, evict you because of sanitary living conditions,,then put you out on the nearest side road..wish we had freedom like that, i would really like to just get away from all this mess, and rules, regulations, neighbors complaining, crime, robbery, etc...he's lucky even though he has less...but that he's doing now will fast disappear....some one seeing it here and on the news will decide to destroy it for him.
** This is a cool story. There still are people who live like this in Northern, AZ. I would die to live like that. In today's sad society, CPS would take your kids for living like this. People would complain for they are jealous and the county would fine you for zoning issues. People this is how they lived not to long ago. Actually it is kind of sad now how people live in my opinion. Last year I built a beautiful tiny 400 sqft cabin in the woods and can't wait for the day to move into it and crush my cell phone. Maybe my last 25 years I will live off the land and that way I can say I have done it all. Kiss my grits.
** Great story, we should all strive to simplify our life and prioritize what is truly important, family. Nothing else really matters. Our world has been turned upside down.
** They made it home. Home is where you hang your hat, can be a traditional house or under a rock. For me I like the more traditional style homes just use to that type of comfort.
** Recycle, reuse, living simple. Food and water and a roof over our heads. If we all lived like that China would go out of business. I cant believe what they import and what we buy!
** No more useless gifts , no more gifts period, dinner, coffee, drinks ,talking, sleeping, laughing, story telling, cigars, more pie, no more gifts you don't need or like or want.
** I know a bunch of democrats who have been living under a rock for many years.
** Sounds my kind of people, being able to live off the land. I grew up in the Bayous and Swamps of Southeast Louisiana and if needed could live off the land. I can eat anything and everything. If it moves i will kill it then eat it, Even if it moves i can still eat it. Besides my childhood upbring I spent 12 years in the Marines and have been all over the world, been through Jungle surivial training and both winter and desert surivial training. Most people nowdays would die if there was "Red Dawn" here in America and there wasn't the local supermarket to get their food from.
** I see here a post which rightly points to the hardships attached with the living style in a far off place in a cave/rock.However it reminds me of the people(mostly gypsies)who started to live in the "Caves" near the city of Granada in Spain after the Spanish Inquisition.I heard that those caves near Granada still exist and are also inhabited by the descendants of some of the people who lived their during the 15th century.
** WOW when I said go live under a rock I didn't think they'd take it literally!
** All i know is this family is self sufficient, and when everyone else will be killing each other in the future water wars, this family will be making fun of our lifestyle.
** It is a hard life for this family but I bet they are happy, they have their children that might not live with them anymore but they still visit and support their Moms and Pops. This is just great for these people wished I could crawl under a rock, sometimes.
** My husband and I have been living under a rock for thirty years, too, but a different kind of rock.
** In Wisconsin bluff country, it's not uncommon to build in ground homes that are a somewhat similar to this featured rock house. One elderly couple I know built their in ground home on the side of a 500-foot overlook in Buffalo County. It sits below giant limestone boulders that are similar in size to this. They're truly something to see; their giant dome appearance in the inside.
** I've been to southern Mexico and believe me living under a rock is better than most of their homes.
** Some people enjoy suffering; I believe they're called Masochists.
Lizards and Snakes live under Rocks, man left them behind A LONG TIME AGO.
** They need to deforest a couple acres and plant some grass. Then build themselves a mcmansion and three SUV gas pig garage with a bunch of pollutin lawn tools. Then get a gun to keep the critters from ruinin their shrubs and stuff. And keep all the lights on so people can see their pretty house. What's wrong with these Mexicans anyway?
** Since he has lived there for 30 years (by his choice), the fact he doesn't have electricity or running water is, literally, his problem. If he doesn't like it, he can choose to leave.
** There are plenty people that live under a rock, especially some of the political bone heads on these blogs.
** I find it interesting that these people are able to live actually somewhat comfortably, getting by with out the use of power or water, though it is not without it's price to pay in labor. It's like camping, ALL the time. And going to work while you're camping, that's gotta be tough...but it is the choicest camping spot that area has to offer it seems, and they really made the best of what nature gave them. Kudos to them.
** I am glad that somebody is actually calming the land instead of buying it from greedy developer. However house has a brother at Utah. Check home at the hole in the Rock.
