1. Well I hate to have to break it to you folks but this is what is called wildlife management. Don't get me wrong, I am the absolute biggest animal lover you will find and that is why it is my career. But this happens all over the world. As man creeps ever so farther into nature he disrupts the lives of everything that live there. People on here who are from Florida and are crying murderer right now you only have to look at your homes that have been invading the swamps and wetlands to see why wildlife management is required. Otherwise there are human casualties and then it becomes even worse for that given species. Alligators are almost completely used from there hide to their meat. A lot better used then say sharks being hunted for their fins. The problem is a lot of people are all for moving to the country for the piece and quiet but forgets that there are always residents living there prior to our arrival. Man has all but claimed the entire planet for himself and what ever gets in his way is wiped out. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done about it. It is in mans nature to conquer, inhabit and eventually destroy whatever he touches.

2. The licensed hunting of alligators in several states is necessary since there population has dramatically increased in the last 15-20 years. Young alligators are driven out of feeding areas by the larger ones and often end up hanging around areas where people swim and they will attack and eat humans as they opportunistic hunters. If they are not managed like this they become a threat to people and livestock. Also-since they have no territory of there own to fed in, they often go hungry.Yes,starving is not nice even for an alligator-so get a grip people. The animal is not wasted-the skin is used for leather, the meat for food and the rest for fertilizer.

3. Apparently, from reading other articles, these nitwits were doing this simply for the fun of it. Another tidbit not mentioned in this video was another group of hunters killed an equally impressive 723 pound alligator just an hour before this one, in the same region. It is amazing that humans have evolved to become so smart, yet many people are so very stupid.

4. Not one of you tree huggers live in the areas of the states where they are a real problem. You know A&E and TLC run some pretty lame tv shows about guys hunting gators and feral hogs, etc. but it is a REAL problem. They don't just kill them for sport. Many cases there is a living to be made there. A lot of guys donate kills to shelters and soup kitchens. They are doing a real service and are a hell of a lot more humane than what goes on in slaughter houses in your backyard. Freaking whiners. Ohhh the poor thing... Shut up!
